The President’s purse: Bassirou Diomaye Faye opens up about his eye-watering fortune

The Senegalese Constitutional Council has revealed Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye’s wealth.

Faye owns 4.3 acres of agricultural land in Sandiara, a small town in the capital of Dakar. That land is valued at 55,000 US dollars. Another at Keur Moussa valued at 3000 US dollars as well. Faye has other business investments valued at 48,000 US dollars.

Faye who promised to declare his assets to the people of Senegal publicly wanted to achieve transparency in all areas of his governance. Faye bought a piece of land in 2017 valued at 5000 US dollars.

President Faye now earns $8,000 a month and has $12,500, $24,500, and $4.47 in his bank accounts. He also has two bank loans to settle and a house worth over $450,000. Prior to winning the election, he was earning 500 to 1000 dollars as a tax inspector at the Finance Ministry of Senegal.

The free-minded head of state has come under constant criticism since being elected mainly due to his marriage between Marie Khone Faye and Absa Faye. However, with a net worth or wealth like that, there is a sure thing happening in his home and that is peace.
