Kasoa Police arrest man for allegedly selling his niece for GH₵150k

The Kasoa Police Intelligent Unit has gotten hold of a man who planned the sale of his niece.

Nana Kofi Amofa from Akyem Ayirebi Nyamebekyere, who had earlier spoken about his intentions to buyers and friends was quickly intercepted by the police at the Obolo Estate in Budumburam.

Per a report from UTV, the 43-year-old agreed to take care of one of his brother’s kids but had the intention of selling her for a huge sum of money. Other investigations revealed that Amoah made it clear to his brother that a good education was vital hence his plans to educate her in the city specifically.

The Intelligent Unit at Kasoa who got the heads up in time disguised themselves as potential buyers needing a child and agreed to pay 100,000 of the preferred amount. After Nana was rejected, the team decided to pay in full but needed to withdraw more money from a nearby bank.

After discussions had progressed amicably, Nana Kofi Sarpong decided to meet with the team to complete the transaction. The police team who used a private car then asked Nana Kofi Sarpong why he was selling his niece.

He said;

“I want to travel to Canada so I do not care where you take her”

The police took him to the Kasoa Police Station and afterward handed him to the DOVVSU unit in Kasoa to continue further investigations. Nana Kofi Amofa was a father of three hence the disguised police team wondered why he did not want to sell his children to fund his Canadian trip.
