Hero to Zero: Chef Smith’s Guinness World Record scandal explained

Ghanaian renowned culinary expert Chef Smith has been a topic of discussion since he announced his intention to contest for the Longest Cookathon honors at the Guinness World Records this year.

Chef Smith who began his cook-a-thon on 1st February 2024, ended his journey on 6th March 2024 after many hours(800).

His ordeal thickened when, on 2nd July 2024, he revealed his certificate from the Guinness World Records to the world. He was reportedly arrested shortly after his victory declaration by the La Police Station in Accra. He was detained at the La Police Station for alleged contractual disagreements.

As suspicions of a Fake GWR certificate soared in the country, many media houses, especially EIB Network’s GHOne, contacted the Records body to request a confirmation. This revealed that his certificate was not valid but was intentionally fabricated to suit his claims as the world’s longest cook-a-thon attempt.

Chef Smith is yet to respond to all these allegations leveled against him.
